The Housing Authority of the City
of Upland was founded on August 8, 1940, by a resolution of the
Upland City Council. The Council Resolution declared the need
for a Housing Authority in the City of Upland and appointed the
first five-member
Board of Commissioners. Construction of the
Los Olivos project, a Conventional “Public” Housing project,
began in 1942 and opened its doors in September of 1943. In July
of 1976 UHA began administering a Section 8 Rental Assistance
program. Finally, in June of 1997 the 130-unit Coy D. Estes
Senior Housing complex began operating.
Upland Housing Authority administers the Conventional Housing,
Section 8, and Senior Housing programs to the public, addressing
the need for affordable housing for low and moderate income
families and seniors in the Upland area. |
